If you’ve found your way here – Greetings! Welcome to my site where I’ll be chronicling my adventures as I take part in the Day Zero Project.
Essentially, the project is to complete a list of 101 things in 1001 days. Why this project? Because it sounded interesting to me, because I’m a person who likes lists and likes to-do lists, even if I’m not great at always checking on them. And I appreciated the longevity of the project – 2.75 years gives one lots of time to deal with different months and events to reach one’s goals. For example, say you couldn’t get to the Martha Stewart Christmas in 2010, well, there’s always next year!
I think another reason this project appealed to me at this point in
my life is because I’ve been feeling a sense of heading out on a new
adventure shortly. “Adventure” seems like an overstatement to me given
that it just means I’ll simply be at home with my kids – something I’ve
already been doing for a year. However, this will the first autumn
that I’m not either
a) in school
b) teaching school or
c) caring for a newborn.
I have two kids now, and don’t plan on heading back to work for the foreseeable future, excepting a change in our situation.
So now a whole year lies before me. How do I fill my time?
Well, granted much of it will simply be filled with life – raising kids with my husband, keeping a house from complete disarray, visiting friends, growing in grace.
But then there’s the stuff for me – the things my mind is on and my creativity is leaning towards and my body is longing for. That’s where this list comes in. It’s a place for me to keep track of the things I want to do but forget about when life moves quickly; when I have 2 loads of laundry out drying and two cranky kids down for naps and suddenly have an hour to myself.
Some things are fun, some are challenging, but they are all things I want to do in the next 2.75 years. No time like the present.
